The unit has been themed under the name of “Senahasa” and is Sri Lanka’s First Female friendly Maternity and Childcare Unit tailor made for conservative mothers and other maternal mothers who like female friendly care.

Normal baby delivery
at Senehasa?
Every delivery is as unique and individual as each mother and infant. In addition, women may have completely different experiences with each new labor and delivery. Giving birth is a life-changing event that will leave an impression on you for the rest of your life. At Senehasa Maternity Unit we provide normal delivery in Sri Lanka at a value for money price with an experienced panel of consultant obstetricians, consultant gynecologists, nurses, mid wives and other support staff so that you can ensure a safe delivery for your new born. Plus senehasa baby delivery is manned by an all-female team tailor made for conservative mothers and other maternal mothers who like female friendly care.
How to prepare for a normal delivery?
- Before a normal delivery the following steps will be undertaken:
- Once you are pregnant, You can consult your obstetrician with Arora Hospital
- A variety of scans will be undertaken and medications will be undertaken during
- A date will be estimated for your delivery date
- When you get labor pains, you should come to the hospital immediately
- On admission a deposit will be paid to arrange the delivery
What happens in a
normal delivery?
- On admission a room of your choice will be provided with all supplies
- A female medical officer will be assigned to you until delivery
- The mother expecting the delivery will be prepared
- If no complications are seen for the expectant mother than a normal delivery will be undertaken
- Mother will be sent to the labor room for delivery
- Generally admission will last 48 hours for a normal delivery
- Baby will be given a mandatory BCG vaccination prior to discharge
On discharge the following will be provided:
- A gift and picture of the baby
- Assistance for birth registration
- Discharge certificate
- Breastfeeding advice
- Generally admission will last 48 hours for a normal delivery
- A vaccination schedule
How to prepare for a
C-section delivery?
Before a C-section delivery the following steps will be undertaken:
- Once you are pregnant, You can consult your obstetrician with Arora Hospital
- A variety of scans will be undertaken and medications will be undertaken during the labor period
- A date will be pre planned for your delivery date
- The consultant may ask you to prepare for the delivery (6 hours fasting and other)
- In some instances a normal delivery may result in a C-Section according to the opinion of your obstetrician.
- On admission a deposit will be paid to arrange the delivery.
What happens in a
C Section delivery?
Briefly this is what will happen in a c section delivery:
- On admission a room of your choice will be provided with all supplies
- A female medical officer will be assigned to you until delivery
- The mother expecting the delivery will be prepared
- Prior to the surgery the surgical team including the VOG, anesthetist, paediatrician and other staff will be prepared for the C section procedure
- Then the expectant mother will be sent to the operating theater for delivery
- Generally admission will last 72-96 hours for a C section
- Baby will be given a mandatory BCG vaccination prior to discharge
On discharge the following will be provided:
- A gift and picture of the baby
- Assistance for birth registration
- Discharge certificate
- Breastfeeding advice
- A vaccination schedule
